It’s almost Spring time again (although some days it doesn’t feel like it), and with the warmer weather and changing seasons comes the feeling of wanting to get outside and enjoy the city and surrounding areas, full of fun and exciting or relaxing things to do this time of year. Many people choose weight loss, increased fitness level or an improvement in overall health, as a New Years resolution. In fact about one-third of all people who make a New Years resolution choose Health or Weight Loss as their resolution. With that in mind, we’d like to share an event that is gaining in popularity across the country and is coming to Atlanta at the beginning of April. If, like many people, you have slacked off a bit on your New Years resolution, or if you are just interested in a fun and healthy weekend activity, The Color Run Atlanta could be the perfect event for you and your friends.
The most unique event of its kind, the Color Run is not focused on speed but on “completely colored Picasso-painting madness” at the finish. Racers of all types are welcome and encouraged to participate; young, old, fast, slow, runner, walker… you name it. The only thing required to participate is a white shirt and a great attitude. You can race solo or with a group of at least four. Racers begin at the 5k starting line with a pristine white shirt and each kilometer is designated with a color: yellow, orange, pink or blue. As the racers reach the kilometer mark, they are blitzed with colors )all 100% natural and safe, of course). Once racers reach the finish line, they are encouraged to stick around for the best party around, complete with food, festivities and of course, more color.
This year’s race will be held on April 6, 2013 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. For all information about this incredible, one-of-a-kind event, visit the Color Run’s official website by clicking here. See you at the starting line!
