As more and more patients desire treatment options that are non-invasive and drug free, Chiropractic Neurology has become one of the most sought-after courses of care. Because it is not only drug and surgery free, but also fast acting with many patients experiencing relief from their symptoms after one or two visits, and the fact that there are many different conditions that can be treated, adults are flocking to this type of care. But what about children who suffer from chronic conditions? Studies are showing that a Chiropractic Neurology treatment plan is just as effective for children to alleviate a variety of things from learning disabilities and autism to the alleviation of symptoms associated with cancer.
Learning disabilities affect between three and ten percent of school aged children in the US today. Many of these children, in turn, suffer from additional problems brought about by the learning disability such as loss of interest in school, low self esteem, lack of motivation and even an interruption in learning new life skills, creating healthy family and friend relationships or performing well in sport activities.
One study performed by Swiss Chiropractor Yannick Paul, President of the Swiss Chiropractic Pediatric Association, reviewed and evaluated eight previous studies into children’s learning disabilities. The studies, which followed a total of 160 students, found that Chiropractic care very well may help the cognitive abilities which are essential to learning. Increasingly recognized as a neurodevelopment disorder, it is easy to see how treatment that is concentrated on the brain- central nervous system connection would be beneficial. Paul’s findings were published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research and editor Matthew McCoy remarked that “this study is an exciting first step. It shows the beneficial effect of Chiropractic care and may offer hope for thousands of children.”
Other studies have shown that children afflicted with Autism, dyslexia, scoliosis, even eating disorders to name a few have found great success in Chiropractic Neurology, and today they are finding that Chiropractic Neurology is also helping childhood cancer survivors improve their physical function and quality of life.
As studies continue into all different avenues of how tailored care through Chiropractic and Chiropractic Neurology continue, it is exciting to see that positive impact that this treatment has on adults and children alike.
